I am Ishan Hemant Toraskar, a trainee commercial pilot currently undergoing professional aviation training in New Zealand. I am deeply committed to building a career in aviation and approach this journey with discipline, consistency, and a strong sense of responsibility.
My background reflects a clear willingness to step outside comfort zones, adapt to new environments, and pursue long-term professional goals with focus and integrity. Aviation, to me, is not just a qualification, but a profession that demands accountability, precision, and continuous self-improvement.
I am currently enrolled in a Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL) program at Auckland International Pilot Academy (AIPA), New Zealand. This program leads to the New Zealand Diploma in Aviation – Level 5 (DGCA) and follows both DGCA (India) and CAA New Zealand standards.
My training includes structured theoretical instruction and regulated practical flight training, designed to meet international aviation requirements. I am presently completing my remaining theory examinations and preparing to commence practical flying as part of the program.
Before moving to New Zealand, I completed DGCA ground training in India, where I studied core aviation subjects including Air Regulation, Aviation Meteorology, and Air Navigation, successfully clearing multiple subjects. This foundation strengthened my understanding of aviation law, weather systems, and operational discipline.
I completed my Class 12 (Science stream) from Aditya English Medium School & Junior College, Pune, under the Maharashtra State Board (HSC). My core subjects included Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics, and I achieved an overall score of 84.83%.
I completed my Class 10 from DAV Public School, Pune, affiliated with the CBSE board, scoring 74.5%. My schooling years played an important role in developing structured thinking, language proficiency, and academic discipline.
Aviation requires high standards of physical and mental fitness. I meet these requirements and currently hold the following valid medical certifications:
DGCA (India) Class 2 Medical – Valid
CAA New Zealand Class 1 Medical – Valid
CAA New Zealand Class 2 Medical – Valid
These certifications reflect my medical fitness to fly and my readiness to meet professional aviation standards.
Through my academic journey, aviation training, and personal development, I have cultivated qualities that are essential in structured and responsibility-driven environments.
My key strengths include:
Clear and confident communication
High discipline and consistency
Calm decision-making under pressure
Strong situational awareness
Teamwork and adaptability
Respect for procedures, rules, and safety
I value professionalism, reliability, and continuous learning, and I take pride in maintaining high personal standards in all areas of work.
I am fluent in multiple languages, allowing me to communicate effectively in diverse and international environments:
English – Fluent
Hindi – Fluent
Marathi – Fluent
I have also achieved an IELTS Overall Band Score of 7.0, reflecting a strong academic and professional command of the English language.
Physical fitness is an integral part of my lifestyle. I have been training consistently for over 3.5 years, during which I have developed strong discipline, routine, and mental resilience. Over the past year, I successfully reduced my body weight by more than 15 kilograms through structured training and lifestyle changes.
Beyond aviation, my interests include:
Aviation safety and air accident investigations
Understanding operational decision-making
Automobiles and technology
Fitness and overall wellbeing
These interests complement my analytical mindset and attention to detail.
As I continue my aviation training in New Zealand, my focus remains on becoming a competent, safety-oriented, and professional pilot. I believe that consistency, integrity, and steady progress are the foundations of long-term success, and I am committed to upholding these values throughout my career.
